The SVCC Learning Commons' Summer of Fun circuit runs every Wednesday during the summer (June 2nd-July 24th) from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Events meet in the Learning Commons (third floor of the east wing of Sauk Valley Community College), unless otherwise stated. All of our Summer of Fun events are completely free, and open to community members of all ages.
Join us on June 4, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm for an afternoon full of board games! Bring a game to play with the group, or play one of the games we have on offer at SVCC.
While you're here, sign up for one of our library cards! They are free and available to anyone within the SVCC district. Also, peruse our stacks and take a peek at all that the SVCC Learning Commons has to offer.

Join us on June 11, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm for a brainteasing afternoon of trivia. Expand your knowledge and challenge your friends by participating in one of our trivia games.
While you're here, take a look at our extensive non-fiction section, with books are nearly every subject imaginable. Librarians and other staff will be on-hand to assist you with checking out books.

Join us on June 18, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm for a celebration of all things summer! Meet outside of the West Mall (marked with an X on the map below) for fun, outdoor time, including a hammocks, yard games, and more. El Cuarto, a local jazz band, will also be performing.
While you're here, look around at our sculpture garden and take in the fantastic views of the Rock River.

Join us on June 25, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm in exploring SVCC's campus while catching Pokémon on Pokemon Go! This opportunity is for novice and veteran players alike. Spin stops, make trades, swap friend requests, walk a route, raid with others, and battle for control of gyms. The SVCC campus has four stops, three power spots, two gyms, and one route. An information table to begin your adventure will be set up in the SVCC Learning Commons.
This event is meant to support the College for Kids course happening that week at SVCC entitled "Pokemon Designers and 3D Makers".

Join us on July 2, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm for a Dungeons and Dragons one-shot. Physics professor Dr. Chisholm will be running the game for any skill level, from beginner to advanced. Dice, character sheets, and other supplies will all be provided.
While you're here, check out our selection of fantasy books available at SVCC, including titles from Sterling's very own Terry Brooks. Librarians and other staff will be on-hand to assist you with checking out books.

Join us on July 9, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm for a day dedicated to crafting and creating. Bring your own craft, or create with our origami kit, Build-Your-Own Bookmarks bar, and other supplies. We will also have Legos available for creating and building.

For our last Summer of Fun event, join us the way we started with a board game event. On July 23, 2025 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm, play some board games with us and celebrate SVCC's various disciplines, including psychology, mathematics, economics, communication, and education.
