Search for Open Educational Resources

Step One: Evaluate your current course materials

  • If you are considering adopting an Open Educational Resource it may be useful to evaluate your current course materials first.
  • What do you like about your current resources, and what don't you like?
  • Look through those resources and identify topics and associated keywords that you can use when searching OER repositories.

Step Two: Identify the types of course materials you need

  • Textbooks
  • Videos
  • Slideshows
  • Worksheets
  • Lesson plans
  • Test banks

Step 3: Identify potential sources for OER

Collaborate with a Librarian

If your efforts have become frustrating and time-consuming, ask a librarian for assistance with locating potential Open Educational Resources for your course. Make sure your request includes the following information:

  • Your name and contact information
  • Course number and title
  • Current course materials and associated costs
  • Types of resources you need
  • Course outcomes and associated topics
