Poetry Month 2025: Home

Poetry Month

National Poetry Month is a yearly celebration of poetry and its importance in American culture, and since its inception in 1996, it has grown to be the “largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions” of participants annually. This LibGuide is Sauk Valley Community College's small contribution to this national event. In this LibGuide you will find:

  • Daily Suggested Readings
  • Weekly Writing Prompts
  • A Campuswide Poetry Contest Sponsored by the LC Library and Writing Center.

Below you will also find a list of events happening on campus and in the local area throughout the month.
